If you have any assets in Lanzarote, such as a property here on the island, it’s strongly recommended that you have a Spanish Will in Lanzarote.
Although its’ not compulsory, it does make the process or accepting inheritance run much more smoothly in the event of your passing.
The notary will draft what’s called an “open will”, which means it covers all of your assets here on the island, from properties to cars and bank accounts.
Our process is simple. We will send you a form to complete with all the information we need, and then send you a dual language draft so you can check the English version. Once you’re happy with it, we’ll book the appointment at the notary to go and sign the documents, and that’s it, simple!
A sworn translation or “traducción jurada” may be required when you’re carrying out applications or filing paperwork in government, academic, legal or financial institutions on the island.
A sworn translation can only be carried out by legally registered professionals who can certify the document with their signature and seal, confirming that it’s an accurate translation of the original.
These documents can range from marriage, birth and death certificates to academic certificates, powers of attorney, patents, special reports and more.
